ABOUT

For Forest Graham, sound is a material as tactile as wood, wire, or plaster. It is something that lives with us in time, shaping our experiences, resonating our bodies, and modulating our very sense of being. The American electro-acoustic composer, sound artist, visual artist and designer approaches technology with intuition, building a world where timbre and cadence blur into image and space. His practice explores the tension between signal and noise, utility and spirit.

Performing under the name Forrest Lawn, and with his wife Savannah Lamal as Grant Lagarde and Caviar Dreams, he composes and improvises with feedback, phase manipulation, resonance, and chance, with a deep commitment to procession and atmosphere. Through Graham and Lamal's project Fieldwork Devices, they design and hand-build effects pedals and esoteric electro-acoustic devices, instruments that invite a conversation between the quantum and the quotidian.

Graham lives and works in the American Southwest, where vast skies and open landscapes bleed into the timbre of his work.

SELECTED PROJECTS

Grant Lagarde
(Forrest Lawn & Savannah Lamal)

Fieldwork Devices - Timequake mod echo and Scud Factory fuzz, phone tap, geophone, contact microphones.
2025-Ongoing

Grant Lagarde Plays The World is a nomadic audio performance series by Forest Graham (Forrest Lawn) and Savannah Lamal. At its core the project’s purpose is to derive signal and noise from a site to utilize as a medium for live on-site improvisations. Whereas traditional field recording practices tend to use traditional microphones, we are more interested in what lies outside our senses. Instead we deploy a variety of sensors such as ultrasonic microphones, geophones, contact microphones, electromagnetic pickups, and  geiger counters, just to name a few.
